A birth announcement is meant to introduce a new baby to the family. Introductory formulas go along the lines of 'We welcome with love...', 'We welcome into our hearts...', 'We are pleased to announce the arrival of...', We joyfully announce the birth of our son/daughter...', or something similar. The height, weight and time of birth is often included, though height and time may just as frequently be omitted. The baby's name is obviously included in the introduction, but a nickname may also be added. In the cases where there is one or more older siblings, their names can also be included in the announcement, and even have them announce the arrival of their new brother/sister. Traditionally, the colors for a baby boy and a baby girl and blue and pink respectively, but parents are free to experiment with other options and see what works better for them.
