Birth Announcement Etiquette
A newborn in the family is always a reason for celebration. Announcing that birth to the world is always a joy for the parents, but there are certain things to consider when making the news public.
The first thing to consider for making the joyous announcement is who to include. Family members, close friends, neighbors and co-workers are the usual target. The news should be sent immediately after the birth of a healthy little baby.
Usually people consider preparing the announcements ahead of time and only leave the baby’s measurements and name to be completed after the delivery takes place. Weight, height, length are common for such announcements.
The news is usually kept short and sometimes comes in the form of a poem. The date and place of birth are common, also the parents’ name or names of siblings of the newborn. The birth announcement can be as informal as the parents’ desire, depending on taste and the recipients.
