Wedding Invitations

In the beginning, when most people were illiterate, news of the wedding would be spread by a man wondering the streets and announcing out loud the news of the day. Virtually anyone who heard about it could consider themselves invited. In the Middle Ages, well off families would hire monks to write their wedding invitations, but it is a well known fact that not all nobles could read and write.

Later, as people became literate, wedding invitations became very fashionable and were hand written. After printing became more affordable, people would have their wedding invitations printed. Nowadays, having one wedding invitations model or another is a matter of style and taste. Most people choose to commission a firm to design and print their wedding invitations. Some firms just ask you for the addresses of the people you wish to invite and they even send out the invitations. Most people choose to send the invitations themselves, though.
